id love some leave-in conditioner. my hair is huge here. its curly! who knew!
bread and chocolate, tea and milk for breakfast, 45 minute walk to school. a cab costs about a dollar fifty but id rather walk through sand and potholes and construction sites than let the bread and chocolate sit in my stomach.
i thought id have a hard time adjusting. some people here wouldnt agree with me, but it doesnt feel any different here than anywhere else. it might be because i dont notice, it might be because im used to it. take for example, lunch yesterday. they fried an entire fish and put it on my plate. three people at the table gasped. "its a whole fish!" yeahhhhh? "theres a bucket in the bathroom! what do we do with it?" duhhhh. i guess not everyones lucky enough to grow up filipino.
and unlike everywhere else, no one stares. i couldnt walk through hungary without people doing a doubletake but nobody here notices im a foreigner at all unless ive done something wrong, like the time i knocked over that burning pot of ashes and incense in that living room
favorite afterschool hangout spots besides the beach are the tables and chairs outside the gas station and the pizza place the lebanese people own. buy a can of heineken and talk for hours.
