i hate being on the internetttttttt

there are two reasons im online:

1. my student loan payment has been "returned" by my financial institution. and i am FRIGHTENED
2. it took over an hour to load the following video:

but arent you so glad you could see that! that's me and chris b. passing the two hour drive to the catholic monastery on sunday. i never call him chris b, actually. he's saved in my phone as vidal sassoon.

i love my life in senegal. all the choices we have outside make it painful to sit indoors and stare at a screen. you can walk in any direction and end up at the beach. you can intern anywhere - i was thinking either a newspaper, a clinic or an elementary school. there are beautiful children who walk in and out of the building next door at L'ecole Franco-Senegalaise. I think thats where I'm going to meet the expatriate parents/older brothers/older sisters who'll invite me to stay in their homeland for spring break.

spring break is two weeks long! we talk about the options, which include the entire weastern hemisphere. rome, paris, casablanca, bamako, abidjian, timbuktu, etc... flights are cheap. we could even hire a driver to take us to mali or the ivory coast....

yesterday - L'islam au senegal in the morning. lunch at the italian restaurant that serves american food run by the lebanese lady who was born in dakar. she's gorgeous! and she wears Chanel Number five. thats a running joke.

"what's your name?"
"Janelle"
"Chanel! like the perfume! har har har har"

i had a french fry sandwich.

litterature africaine - yesterday was poems by Leopold Sedhar Sengor

and then we had dinner outdoors with dim lights and brightly colored walls with sconces and a live band. freshly grilled fish, shrimp salad, hibiscus juice, red wine. mmm life sure is hard here.

took a cab home. i talked to the driver in wolof and got the lowest price ive ever been charged to go home.

today i did not have bread and chocolate for breakfast because my stomach is recoving from yesterday.

"Guys, i'm gonna drink the water."
"Janelle, you might think you look badass now, but you wont tomorrow when your intestines explode."

they were right. i cant fit anything in my stomach but i did take the two mile trek to school on foot. i got an espresso at thet gas station, aka my second home and family.

love you all. time for lunch. im thinking soup sounds good right now.
